How to be successful...

LISTEN: Language is learned through listening. It is important to listen carefully in class. SPEAK: Practice speaking
Spanish aloud every day. Talking with your classmates is an easy and fun way to learn. Don't be afraid to experiment.
PRACTICE: Learning a foreign language is like learning to ride a bicycle or play an instrument. You can't spend one
night cramming and then expect to be able to ride or play perfectly the next morning. You didn't learn English that way either.
ORGANIZE: Your memory is going to get a workout so it is important to be organized. Keep your notebook neat and
up to date. Set aside time every day to practice. CONNECT: Some English and Spanish words have common roots in
Latin, and the two languages have influenced each other, so your knowledge of English can give you clues about the meaning
of many Spanish words. EXPAND: Increase your contact with Spanish outside of class in every way you can. You may
be able to find someone living near you who speaks Spanish. It's easy to find Spanigh language programs on TV, on the radio,
or at the video store. HAVE FUN!! Above all, remember to have fun. The more you try, the more you'll learn.
Buena suerte.
